What does a formworker do?

Formworkers install temporary structures to support construction work, for example concrete mouldings. Support structures may use steel, timber and/or heavy plastic.

A common formwork process includes the following steps:

  1. Forming a contained space (mould) into which concrete is poured.
  2. Concrete is poured into formwork moulds. 
  3. Concrete sets and formworkers remove the support forms.
  4. Formworkers clean and prepare moulds for the next project.

The weekly rates of pay have been calculated with any tool allowances applicable to that trade and is based on a Junior Residential Apprentice who has completed Year 12.
